[ James doesn't get very far either, so when it blows, he's pushed onto the ground by the force of the hot paint splattering all across his back. He feels sticky and gross, but right now, as soon as the explosion passes, he flips over onto his front to take a look at the damage--or lack thereof. ]

All that, and it did nothing? Seriously?

[buncho]

Ugh... Were we not quick enough...?

[ The underground is terribly hot and humid now, and Mafuyu pulls the collar of her shirt over her mouth so she can breathe without suffocating on paint fumes. ]

Hey, you got another bucket, right? Maybe we gotta go with the dynamite approach: shove the can right next to the wall, poke a tiny hole into the side, thread some rope in, light and run.

[ ...well. He's already covered in paint. What would another bucket's worth do? ]

Alright, fine. Let's give it a shot.

[ He sets the other can of paint by the wall (still dripping red everywhere) and gets to work on poking a hole through the metal with the tip of his housekeys. It's slow going but hey, it's not like he exactly knew he'd need a blade of some kind when he showed up today.

As he works, he asks: ]

Got anything we can use as rope?

[buncho]

[ She really should have brought her ninja stars, but the less weapons (and wig) she carries around James, the safer it'd be, or so she thought. As such, she doesn't really have anything on her, turning out her pockets to reveal a stick of gum, some quarters, her phone. The bare necessities. ]

Hmm. Pull out your laces.

[frostythehitman]

[ He grumbles--why his laces?--but does it. With one shoe now laceless, he sticks one end of it into the hole he's just made, then takes the lighter from Mafuyu and sets the other end alight. ]

Alright, it's lit up now!

[ He almost runs to try and escape the blast, but, well. He's already covered in paint, what's another can of paint gonna matter in the long run?

He just shuffles back a few steps to make sure he's out of the immediate danger zone. ]

[buncho]

[ Because she needs her laces or her shoes will fall off, obviously. James is a good sport, setting everything up and lighting the end of the lace and even standing right there in front of the can so that Mafuyu gets a front row seat this time too... hiding behind James and using him as a shield. ]

[frostythehitman]

And it's going to go off...

[ He lets himself trail off as he watches the shoelace burn shorter, shorter, all the way up to the edge of the can...

James's breath hitches in his throat in anticipation. And sure enough, the can explodes, yellow paint splashing everywhere (including on James, of course) and sending the can flying through the air momentarily before it clatters to the ground again.

The wall is still untouched. ]

Great. So we just wasted two cans of paint and all our clothes for nothing.
