Not at all. I actually got my start working with a partner--and a whole team. Lots of teams, actually. I still had to sometimes do a couple side missions on my own, but for the most part, I had teammates around.
[ He's quiet for a moment, and then, with a sigh: ]
Teams require trust and equal footing. That's not impossible with all the people here. But the leaders? They've got some degree of control over this place and us, even if they don't really understand it. And it's hard to build trust in people who can barely tell you about themselves.
So, here, amongst us? Sure. Teams are fine. The leaders, though? I'm keeping them at arm's length for now.
It would be nice to know who's on our teams and who's not—but the fact that we don't know makes me think... maybe teams aren't the point. I want to be on everyone's team, I guess.

Just not something I would've thought to do. They're not our friends.

Still. It's a little bit like befriending your jailer. At the end of the day, we're not on equal ground.

[firm!]
Bucky, you said you always work alone. Right? Has it always been like that?

The team? The partners? Or the solo work?

[she neatly tucks her feet under her gown, letting the rest of it trail off the side of the bed.]
I'd hope you're at least a little interested in teams, though. Because... [of the current situation. she gestures at the two beds.]

Too hopeful?

We've already had someone murder people here. You want to be on their team? Can you trust that they're on yours?

[she gives him a gentle look]
Do you trust me?

I wonder if it'll come down to that.
A life or death level of trust.
