[Once everything is done and over with, Sieghart relocates to the parlor, where he often is. He's spread out on a couch when he opens his eyes at the sound of movement.]

Going out for some fresh air?

[ He grunts in affirmation ]

As fresh as air can get here, anyway.

[ he doesn't think air can be all that fresh in whatever realm the dead go to. ]

[He sits up.]

There are worse afterlives where air quality is concerned.

[ huffs ]

Probably.

[ let's go! out of the mansion and into the yard we go! ]

[ercnerd]

[Into the yard, they go.]

I know. The unharvested energy of death is thick enough to choke a person.

[ just gives him a look ]

[ercnerd]

[He looks back.]

That's how it was in Pandemonium.

That's...not the last murder round you were in, right?

The school's name was Wiwaldi. I'm talking about a mock afterlife somebody created around my dimension.

Mock afterlife, huh? How'd that work?

[ercnerd]

She diverted the souls of the deceased from the Underworld and trapped them in prisons of her making. Instead of preparing them for reincarnation, though, she tormented them by taking away parts of themselves . . . and we ended up having to deal with their fits.

[frostythehitman]

Their 'fits'? What does dealing with them even mean?

[ercnerd]

Exactly what it sounds like. They lost something important to them, so they took it out on us when we got there. We had to fight our way through them.

And? What happened to them after? [ because, well. Sieghart clearly made it out okay. ]

[He is forever cheerful.]

The Queen of the Underworld was with us. She sent them where they needed to go once everything was over.

What was she doing earlier that let this other person slip through the cracks and mess everything up?

[ercnerd]

She was dealing with civil war and an invasion.

[frostythehitman]

Civil war and invasion of...the Underworld?

[ercnerd]

That's right.

Demons were invading, so we went there to warn the court and ended up in a power struggle. That's when the demons stole the power to control destiny.

[frostythehitman]

Sounds very...high stakes.

[ercnerd]

It was more troublesome than it needed to be.

[He stretches his arms over his head.]

Whether they're mortals or immortals, people hardly listen the first time around.

[frostythehitman]

[ huffs ] Well, I can't deny that.

[ercnerd]

Well, I suppose that's just part of living. Life would be dull if everyone were the same.

[frostythehitman]

S'like that quote. There's only one way to listen, but a million different ways to not listen.
