[it's very frustrating how deeply correct he is, although she doesn't say so. not that she needs to—her expression tightens, a pained sadness pulling at its corners.
Already falling on "everyone for themselves," huh?
[ He says it teasingly, though--he's not gonna begrudge someone looking out for themselves. Although he certainly wouldn't have expected it from Elsa. ]
[her words trail off. even if you hate it, or you're not a born leader, you sometimes still have to do it. sure, it can suck, but that's not the point??]
If they've taken up the mantle, they owe it to everyone to do the best they are able.
Not at all. I actually got my start working with a partner--and a whole team. Lots of teams, actually. I still had to sometimes do a couple side missions on my own, but for the most part, I had teammates around.
[ He's quiet for a moment, and then, with a sigh: ]
Teams require trust and equal footing. That's not impossible with all the people here. But the leaders? They've got some degree of control over this place and us, even if they don't really understand it. And it's hard to build trust in people who can barely tell you about themselves.
So, here, amongst us? Sure. Teams are fine. The leaders, though? I'm keeping them at arm's length for now.
It would be nice to know who's on our teams and who's not—but the fact that we don't know makes me think... maybe teams aren't the point. I want to be on everyone's team, I guess.

Don't say it like that. There's no reason to make it a... public display.
[they wouldn't. surely.
(laughs in sunday w0)]

It wouldn't be much more gruesome than making us all gather to stare at the body and speculate who did it.

...]
As long as it isn't one of us.

I mean the group of us brought her unexpectedly. If the leaders are going to lead us, they should be the ones taking charge.
That's... part of a leader's duty, too.
no subject
[ Unless they're faking it to play the long con, which is possible, but he's not sold on that idea just yet. ]

But I don't think they had a choice. Wolf made it sound like it was some kind of forced contract.
no subject
I don't think anyone would be happy, being forced to lead.
[but. still. if you can help, then... you've got to try, right?]
What do you think of them? Of your leader.
no subject
They don't beat around the bush, at least. I can appreciate that much about them.
What about your leader?

[...]
They like spicy foods.

Just not something I would've thought to do. They're not our friends.

Still. It's a little bit like befriending your jailer. At the end of the day, we're not on equal ground.
no subject
[firm!]
Bucky, you said you always work alone. Right? Has it always been like that?
no subject
no subject
The team? The partners? Or the solo work?

[she neatly tucks her feet under her gown, letting the rest of it trail off the side of the bed.]
I'd hope you're at least a little interested in teams, though. Because... [of the current situation. she gestures at the two beds.]
